Project Description
Established in 1994 as one of the first universities of applied sciences in Austria, the Fachhochschule Burgenland is a public university of applied sciences located in the heart of Europe with two campuses in Eisenstadt and Pinkafeld. More than 1,800 students study here every year for both undergraduate as well as postgraduate degrees in the following fields: Business, Information Technology and Management, Energy and Environmental Management, Health and Social Work. All the departments are actively engaged in research projects, together with Burgenland Research, a 100% subsidiary of the university.
Degree programmes and research in the Department of Business focus primarily on Central and Eastern Europe. Research in this department covers three main areas: consumer insight, knowledge productivity and intercultural management communication.
Our inter-cultural competences built up over more than twenty years paved the way for our involvement in the arrival of tens of thousands of migrants in Burgenland since 2015 and our research experience along with the cooperation with NGOs provide expertise to contribute to the success of the VINCE project.
Anne Kalaschek, Claudia Kummer and Claudia Frank-Pirger form the project team. Along with VIA University College in Denmark, we are the leaders of WP3 in which we will establish guidelines for refugees and university staff engaged in validation.
